Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
In response to escalating clashes between groups in Haryana's Nuh district, a curfew was imposed, and paramilitary troops conducted a flag march on Thursday. The district's streets remained deserted due to the local curfew, leading to difficulties in procuring essential ration supplies for the residents.
Amid the tense situation, six deaths related to the unrest in Nuh have been reported. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar disclosed that 116 individuals have been detained in connection with the violence that occurred on Monday, resulting in the deaths of six people, including two Home Guards.
Due to the critical and stressful conditions in Nuh, Faridabad, and Palwal districts, and three sub-divisions of Gurugram, the state government announced the suspension of mobile internet services until August 5. The violence was triggered after a religious procession passing through the district faced an attack, leading to clashes between two groups.
As the situation continues to escalate, residents shared their concerns about fear and uncertainty, affecting their daily lives and livelihoods. The violence has had adverse effects on local businesses, with some reporting a decline in sales and significant income losses.
In response to the unrest, the state government took immediate action by deciding to shift the 2nd IRB's battalion headquarters from Bhondsi to Nuh to bolster law and order and maintain peace and security in the region.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar assured that the perpetrators would not escape punishment and vowed to deliver severe justice for the victims and their families. Meanwhile, the state's Home Minister, Anil Vij, pointed out that social media played a significant role in fueling the violence in Nuh.
